Larmei-kei: Como o vintage influenciou a moda japonesa / Larme-kei: How vintage influenced Japanese fashion

Olá little swans!
Hello little swans! I've mentioned on this post that I'd be talking about larme-kei and here I am! If you don't know anything about Japanese fashion, you must be asking yourself what the hell it means. Let's start with an introduction to the Japanese street fashion: most known as J-fashion, the Eastern fashion universe is pretty different of the Western. Colors, shapes, lovely prints and cuteness build styles as lolita, fairy-kei, decora and hime gyaru. In Japan, dressing up as a doll is not "childish", but stylish.
Larme-kei is a recent name, but the style itself started a few time ago. Many describe it as "romantic and girly", but there is also a strong influence from vintage fashion. For example, the 40's aesthetic from Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita is very noticeable. One of the first Larme-kei stores is Katie, launched in 1997. Since its opening, the store has been inspiring in pin-ups and mixing the sensuality of the vintage divas with kawaii (which means "cute" in Japanese). According to the brand's official website, they "inspire by their love of music, movies, vintage dolls, greeting cards, laces and fabric patches". Something that surprised me was when Katie released hat boxes and a few clothing pieces with John Willie's illustrations for the fetish magazine Bizarre. They even did a new logo similar to the magazine's! To some J-fashion lovers, this might be scary, but it's amazing for me!

Now talking on models, Amo (aka Amoscream) is one of the most popular of this style. She's Katie's official model and have released her book of makeup tutorials and owns a brand. She might not look like a pin-up, but her inspiration in the 40's and 50's is visible, with a "little bit" of pastel colors.

A palavra vêm do francês "lágrimas".
But the "boom" of Larme-kei happened after the release of Larme magazine in 2012, which named the style. but it became popular around the world recently. Another famous brand is Swankiss. It is less inspired by pin-ups when compared to Katie, but made Larme-kei popular and the inspiration in the 40's is very clear. The word means "tears" in French. I own a replica of a Swankiss necklace!

Specially if it comes from Syrup (above), marabous, feathers and powder puffs are in everywhere! Katie's marabou slippers are very famous.
