Como organizar sua penteadeira / How to organize your vanity

Olá little swans, tudo bem com vocês? Primeiramente, peço desculpas por ter ficado tão ausente. Tive problemas com meu computador recentemente.
No post contanto como fiz uma penteadeira DIY eu prometi um outro com dicas de como arrumar, então... Aqui está! Enquanto eu fazia a minha penteadeira, tentei procurar por dicas e não encontrei muito, então o que eu fiz foi me inspirar em imagens do Pinterest e Tumblr. Por isso, estou fazendo esse post para quem teve a mesma dificuldade. Você precisa ter duas coisas em mente quando for montar sua penteadeira: que visual quer dar à ela e que precisa dividir os objetos para não ficar uma bagunça, mas não vamos falar agora sobre isso. Ok, vamos lá:

On my post about a DIY dressing table, I promised another one with organization tips. So... Here it is! When I was DIY-ing my dressing table, I searched for tips and didn't find much, so I took inspiration from images found at Pinterest and Tumblr. This is why I'm doing this post. You'll have to keep two things in mind when decorating your vanity: which look you want for it and that you need to separate all your stuff but I'll talk about it later. Ok, let's go:

♥ COMEÇANDO PELO BÁSICO / 
STARTING BY THE BASICS ♥

A primeira coisa que você tem que fazer é pensar na superfície da penteadeira e nos objetos que não são de beleza, como potinhos e coisas que vão ajudar a manter seus produtos e acessórios arrumados. Você pode usar papel e vinil como eu fiz, colocar um espelho (com ajuda profissional, é claro) ou comprar/mandar fazer uma toalha como na imagem, com babados ou não. Cobrir a superfície vai ajudar a preservar o móvel e a mantê-lo limpo. 

Quanto aos potes, eu recomendo muito os da Daiso, caso tenha na sua cidade, mas em qualquer lojinha é possível encontrar modelos lindos e pra todos os gostos. Compre apenas o que for necessário, pensando no que pretende guardar neles. Também aconselho adquirir uma bandeja. Porta-jóias são úteis, se você for deixar acessórios e jóias na penteadeira. Já vi usarem expositores de cupcakes para perfumes e maquiagem e acho uma graça! 

Se sua penteadeira tiver gavetas, é recomendável que as forre. Você pode usar tecidos, papéis estampados e até papéis de presente para isso.
The first thing you have to do is to think on the surface of the table and the objects that aren't from your beauty arsenal, such as storage boxes and stuff that will keep your products and accessories organized. You can use paper and vinyl as I did, put a mirror surface (with professional help, of course) or buy/comission a towel like in the picture above, with frills or not. Cover the surface will preserve the furniture and keep it clean. 
About the storage boxes, I recommend the Daiso ones, in case there's a store in your hometown, but you can find beautiful boxes at any store. Buy only what is necessary. I also recommend getting a tray. Jewelry boxes are useful if you want accessories in your table. I've seen cupcake displays as perfume, makeup and jewelry holders and I think it's so cute! 
If your dressing table has drawers, it's recommended to cover it inside. You can use fabrics, printed papers and even gift papers for it. 

♥ PENSE QUE É UMA LOJA / 
THINK OF IT AS STORE ♥

Pode parecer estranho, mas você precisa pensar na organização da sua penteadeira como se essa fosse uma loja, de preferência de departamento como as Americanas ou Forever 21. Você já tem ideia das coisas que quer sobre ela, né? Ótimo, mas não deixe tudo espalhado. Quando entramos numa loja, esperamos ver tudo separado por seções e naturalmente ficamos incomodados se encontrarmos uma calça jeans na seção de sapatos. Então não misture seus batons com produtos de cabelo. Separando seus pertences por "seções" vai ajudar muito na hora de se arrumar, porque vai se acostumar e automaticamente saber aonde está cada coisa. 

A bandeja serve ou para misturar um pouco, deixando expostas as coisas que você mais usa no dia-a-dia (como mostrado na imagem acima) ou para organizar algo que queira. Eu uso a minha para meus perfumes, em sua maior parte. Se não for colocar escova de cabelo, pentes e espelho de mão na bandeja, reserve um lugar para eles ou use os potes, mas atenção: não ocupe todo o espaço. Você vai precisar de boa parte da penteadeira livre para se arrumar. Por esse motivo, eu sugiro que não deixe toda a sua maquiagem na superfície, e sim em gavetas com caixinhas organizadoras, uma maleta (como eu faço) ou em organizadores plásticos (como mostrado aqui). Deixe expostos, no máximo, batons, pincéis e os produtos que usa mais, como seu pó, lápis e base favoritos.
I know it sounds weird, but you need to think of the organization as it is a store, more like a department store as Target or Forever 21. You already know what you'll put on your table, right? Great, but don't leave the stuff spread all over it. When we enter a store, we expect to see everything separated in sections and we'd naturally feel annoyed if we find a pair of jeans pants in the shoes section. So don't put your lipsticks in your hair products. Separating your stuff in "sections" will help a lot when you're getting ready because you'll get used to it and will automatically know where every single thing is at. 
The tray is meant to mix your stuff a little, expose the products you wear often on a daily basis (as shown in the photo above) or to organize anything you want. I use mine for my perfumes on its most part. If you're not leaving your hair brush, comb and hand mirror on the tray, find a special place for them on the table or put them on storage boxes, but be careful: do not occupy all of the space. You'll need a huge part of the table free to dress yourself up. Because of that, I suggest to not put all your makeup products on the surface, but in drawers with boxes, a case (as I do) or plastic organizes (check it out here). You can put lipsticks, brushes and products you wear often on the table though, as your favorite powder, pencil and foundation. 

♥ FLORES, VELAS E OUTROS OBJETOS / 
FLOWERS, CANDLES AND OTHER OBJECTS ♥

Sempre vemos flores nas fotos de penteadeira do Pinterest, Facebook, Tumblr e WeHeartIt. Flores de verdade podem não ser muito práticas, pois você terá de trocar por novas toda semana. Há várias flores falsas e realistas no mercado, então é uma opção melhor, principalmente se você não tiver um jardim para colher flores novas. 

Velas são incríveis, eu mesma adoro e são bem mais eficientes que as flores para aromatizar o ambiente, mas muito cuidado na hora de acender e como vai deixá-la na penteadeira. Se a vela não vier dentro de um pote (vidro ou metal), deixe-a em um copo de vidro ou outro suporte que não permita que a cera derrame sobre a superfície da penteadeira. E o mais importante: nada de aerosóis próximo às velas! Uma vez, a Dita estava aplicando laquê próximo a um candelabro grande cheio de velas e o cabelo pegou fogo! Se precisar de desodorante, laquê, fixador de maquiagem em spray e coisas do tipo, apague ou acenda a vela apenas após o uso. 

Objetos diversos como porta-retratos, quadros e pequenos mimos de decoração (figuras, imagens, miniaturas, bonecas, souvenirs) podem ser ótimos "tapa-buracos" e dão um toque do seu gosto próprio.

We always see flowers in photos of vanity tables at Pinterest, Facebook, Tumblr and WeHeartIt. Real flowers might not be that cool in real life, since you'd have to pick new ones every week. There are a lot of realistic fake flowers in market, so it's a better choice, specially if you don't have a garden to pick fresh flowers. 

Candles are amazing, I love it myself and they are way better than flowers to scent the room, but be careful when lighting it up and how you're going to leave it on the table. If the candle doesn't come inside a jar (made of glass or aluminium), put it inside a glass cup or any other holder that will not let the wax leak and fall onto the surface of the table. And most important: no aerosol sprays near the candles! One time, Dita was applying hair spray next to a huge candle holder with a lot of candles and her hair caught on fire! If you're going to need aerosol deodorant, hair spray, makeup setting spray or anything like that, put out the light or light it up only after you got everything done. 

Misc objects as photos, frames and small decoration items (figures, images, miniatures, dolls, souvenirs) can be great "hole fills" and give a special touch of your taste.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST: KEEP IT CLEAN ♥

Eu moro numa cidade quente onde há muita propagação de poeira. Ou seja, tenho que limpar regularmente minha penteadeira e tudo o que há em cima dela. Vivendo numa cidade onde há muita poeira ou não, é importante manter a penteadeira limpa para conservá-la e deixá-la sempre linda e higiênica. 

I live in a hot town where there are a lot of dust propagation. It means that I have to clean my table very often and everything on it. Living on a town with lots of dust or not, it's important to keep it clean to preserve it and keep the good-loking.
